Original Sculpture
Meet Fergus a draft stallion. He was once a show champion, but spending the past few years as a breeding stallion/pasture pet has given him a shaggy mane, pudgy hay belly and swayed back. He is sculpted using sculpey, but I plan on making a resin copy to refine and put on the finishing details. Depending on how that resin turns out, I would love to release him as a resin edition!

New Horse - Breyer's Big Ben
Hello all. Well I finially finished a new horse. I was keeping my Kathleen Moody Big Ben as part of my original finish collection, but while organizing my models I noticed he was extremely beat up. I can't even remember when I got him, but I know he sure took a few spills over the years. So I thought "why not repaint him". I love Big Ben so I painted him look like him. A little meta perhaps, but it was nice to just paint a model instead of getting wrapped up in overly zealous customizations. He turned out well, I am pleased except for the fact he is considerably redder than I was going for. I realized that all my browns are red based. I am going to have put some money down on some yellow browns if I want to do a portait of the liver chestnut horse I am currently riding :S Oh well. I also tried playing with my new light tent and I definitely need to iron the background. Although I think getting nicer fabric would be better!

It would have been three, but I experienced a weird phenomenon where the pastels and base coat started lifting. I guess I didn't let the primer dry properly or maybe I didn't shake the can enough? I don't really know what happened, but it didn't occur on the other two and I have never had it happened before. Very weird. Oh well, a little quick fix by extending the blaze upwards and you can't even tell. This one will just have to stay home with me :P

Customized Legionario
So this has been my big project over the past few months. Still have a lot of work to go, but so far he is indistinguishable from the original model.

Completed Ahkal Teke
I have named him the Alpha Trekkie AKA Picard. He is painted to a sooty buckskin and customized from a Mel Millar Have Blue resin. The only changes I made to him apart from fixing some holes, was to reduce the length of his muzzle slightly, make a smaller base and add his loose tail. He took me less than a month and is finished with pan-pastels, oil paint, gold pigment powder and some arena dirt "borrowed" after my last lesson. This is my first artist resin, both finished by me and for my collection. I have to thank Mel for her amazing christmas sale for that :)
